Would it be possible to insert photo's into chat posts
using upload or attachments?

I second this. Being able to use the phpbb native attachment function would be really nice.

There is also the Imgur extension that works very nicely with mChat.

Last year I started writing an add-on extension that allows adding attachments to mChat, similar to post attachments. It's about half way finished, the other half is trying to find funky solutions (deleting orphaned attachments, file extension handling, and more) to make it play well with phpBB core which isn't designed to attach files to anything other than posts and PMs.

The current code is far from being ready for production, but if there's interest for beta alpha-testing it, I can zip it up.
