No notifications if room selected
No notifications if room selected
When I select a room then no notifications are displayed as in another room that is not selected. By notification I meant the digits how many messages are new.
Once the room has been selected, you don't know how many messages are new.

Re: No notifications if room selected
If you're actively chatting in the room and you're reading all messages right away, it would be confusing if the red badge would count up, wouldn't it?
The extension doesn't know when you're done reading new message. That's why it is assumed that you're reading new messages in your active room right away.
Maybe there's a way to improve this, but we need to answer the following questions:

Maybe there's a way to improve this, but we need to answer the following questions:
- When do you want the red badge to count up? At the moment it counts up if you're not in the room.
- When don't you want it to count up? At the moment it doesn't count if you're in the room.
- When do you want it to be removed? At the moment it's removed when you enter the room.
Re: No notifications if room selected
No, not until I leave the room or click on another.
it should continue counting up as long as I am in the chat room.it can be that I choose this room and come back only after 10 minutes. then I do not know how many new messages were written in my absence.
mchat already do that

i know it is not easy
Re: No notifications if room selected
The red badges reset to zero when you reload the page. Making them persistent across page reloads requires a lot of changes.
Am I the only one who would be confused by the red badge counting up in the room I'm currently in? Even more so when I'm actively chatting in it.
Re: No notifications if room selected
Maybe you can also change the settings so that the counter for new messages only counts again after a certain time if you have been inactive for a longer period of time.
Re: No notifications if room selected
What do you mean by inactive? Counting the messages happens in the browser with JavaScript, so inactive in that context means something like time of your last mouse movement or keyboard input?
As you can see it's difficult to find a good solution that works for everyone which is why the current solution is rather basic.

Re: No notifications if room selected
Yes like that.
It will be a new feature in one of the next version

It would make sense, wouldn't it? If i don't read in chat for a unknown time then i want to see new messages....
Bye Jan
Re: No notifications if room selected
It's not that easy. What if I read all chat messages without participating or moving my mouse?
Re: No notifications if room selected
I don't know, you're the (mchat) expert.
