phpBB 3.3 Update

Post by Painkiller88 »

Hi,

i know a lot people wanna update their boards now with 3.3 but i would suggest to wait a bit.

If you have none or not that much ext you can update and hope everything is working BUT if you have tons of ext you should wait.

Just passing the yml test does not mean the ext is working fine.

Many people already had a lot problems just updating the board, there are a lot of bugs in it and 3.3.1 will be released soon because of tons of already posted issues :)

no rush in updating to 3.3 it is nothing for the faint hearted :D

I upgraded from day 1 without any problems. Updated the .xml from many extensions by myself, and all 70 installed extensions works.

Did you use the automatic update feature or the recommended procedure?

I am looking at a site for someone that needs an overdue update from 3.2.2, leading later to possibly a 3.3.0 upgrade.
It has many extensions including a Kasimi one, so I am interested in this difference in experience of the process.

Would you be the right person to update some one site if you need to ask a question like that ?

@72degrees, don't use the automatic way for an upgrade. Personally I always use the recommended way you linked, never had a problem.

phpBB 3.3.0 has another serious core issue that makes the password re-set page crash with critical errors.

There is a working patch, but I would recommend everyone to wait for 3.3.1 before attempting any upgrade.

As far as I know 3.2.8 works just fine with mChat. It should be safe to upgrade that far as of right now.

But if he wants to carry on using mCHAT with phpBB 3.3. I don't think it works does it with phpBB 3.3 yet?

mChat 2.1.4-RC1 is compatible with phpBB 3.3.x. Note that this a pre-release because it hasn't been reviewed by the Extension Customisations Team at phpBB.com.
