simple mChat page for mobile devices

#1

Post by testingground » 11 Feb 2019, 20:09

Is there a way to have a simple mchat page for use on mobile devices.
for example, no forum header/footer etc.
to make it look a bit like a whatsapp type messenger?
thanks

You can add this CSS to your mchat.css file. It hides header and footer on mChat's custom page for mobile users. Keep in mind that with this code added, there's no way to leave the mChat custom page except with the browser's back button.

Code: Select all

@media (max-width: 700px) {
    .section-app\/mchat #page-header, .section-app\/mchat #page-body > h2, .section-app\/mchat #page-footer {
        display: none;
    }
}

Further to my question,
If I set the chat in its own browser so mobile devices could just click on it without going to the main forum, is it possible to have a login screen?
What I mean is, if a member just opens the chat on a mobile, is there a way of logging them in without going through the forum login.

I want users that are mobile to be able to just use the chat if they want, like whatsapp, but rather than have a separate chat app Id like to use mchat so chats show on the forum too.

I'm not sure I undertand what you're looking for. You want a login screen but not the default board login screen? Do you want it styled differently? If you have your permissions set so that guests can't see mChat and you open yourboard.com/mchat as a guest, you see a login screen that redirects you to mChat after successful login. What do you want to change about that behavior?

Arh ok of course it does, yes.
But the default login that it redirects to would included my forum header and footer etc. I kinda want a clean login for mobiles but only for the chat.
I want the whole chat process from login to usage to be as clean as possible, just the basics.

The CSS I posted above should do just that.

Edit: I see. The code does what you want, but mchat.css is not included on the login page. Move it to some CSS file of your style.

just tried the code for the chat.
I have Board announcements extension but this still shows on mobile?

Is their anyway to have literally just the chat box on screen? so NO forum coding at all, just the chat window? (and send box obviously)

I appreciate the help your giving me, and I intend to pay for the addons once I know it can be adapted to what I need.
I would of course pay for any extra help getting this working on mobile with as clean an interface as possible.
Thanks

Try this CSS instead:

Code: Select all

@media (max-width: 700px) {
    .section-app\/mchat .wrap > :not(#page-body),
    .section-app\/mchat #page-body > :not(#login):not(.mchat-wrapper) {
        display: none;
    }
}

Great!
Now is there anyway to have the text/send box fixed to the bottom of the browser on mobile?
