Unable to set a password protected room

Post by Steve Garth » 28 May 2020, 20:31

HI,
I have mChat installed on a PHPBB 3.3 board and it appears to be working fine.
I also have mChat Rooms installed and, again, it appears ot be working fine, except for one aspect
I am setup as administrator, and have YES for all MChat permissions.
I can create a private room and a public room, but I cannot create a password protected room. Whatever I try I get the failed sound and the room is not created.
I tried it with another admin account with the same failure.
This video demonstrates this;

I feel that I am doing something wrong, so any advice would be good.

Excellent error description. A video makes it so much easier to help!

You found an incompatibility with phpBB 3.3. Since 3.3.0, phpBB uses a new password hashing algorithm which creates longer hashes than phpBB 3.2. The new hash is too long for the table column which is why you get an error.

Run this SQL query in phpMyAdmin or similar:

MySQL

Code: Select all

- This code is only accessible to donors -
Oracle

Code: Select all

- This code is only accessible to donors -
The upcoming mChat Rooms version 1.2.13 will have this fix included.

That seems to have worked, thanks for the prompt reply.
I look forward to the update.
