Error 500 on 3.3.8 BBS - solved

After I installed mChat on my board all I got was an error 500

It drove me mad trying to track it down.

I looked in the server error logs and notice that 5 errors were occurring everytime someone tried to visist the BBS, it kept saying it couldn't find a any files in ext/dmzx/mchat/styles/prosilver/template

I logged on with FTP, checked the remote dir, the files it was looking for were all there WTF?!!!
So i checked the files permissions, all 644 and the dir was 755

What hell is going on here?

I was chatting to someone else about this "Filezilla is your issue, dump and get a decent filae manage like Total commander"

That's exactly what I did.

(I kept my account open in the ACP in a totally separate browser to get round the error 500 so I can access the acp even when you cant get onto the board)

Disabled the ext in ACP, deleted the data, the deleted the dir, delete production in the cache directory, re uploaded the dir, enabled it and BANG!

All fully working...

This issue is easy to solve you have filezilla set up wrong.

No it was not it was uploading the files with wrong file perms your logs are the clue if you read them.

644 are the correct file permissions and 755 is the correct Dir permissions, the reason they couldn't be found is because Filezilla corrupted them.
This is a known bug with Filezilla.
